Finished

I finished, and paired the cake with a colorful card.
I think she liked it.
I didn't follow the recipe to the T, I didn't add the whipped cream.
(trying to make it healthier)

From Scratch Bread

I love King Arthur Flour!
[My dad took the pictures]
This is my first loaf I made all by myself!
The recipe is classic whole wheat. Recipe.

Sunday Baking

I ignored my homework in lue of tying out
"from scratch bread" and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Pictured with my mom's glass behind.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes 3½ dozen cookies
1¼ cup all purpose flour

1-cup whole wheat flour

½ teaspoon salt

1-teaspoon baking soda

½ cup sugar

¾ firmly packed light brown sugar
1 cup softened unsalted butter, cut into 1-inch pieces

1-teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 eggs

1½ cups old-fashioned rolled oats

12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350° F.
Stir the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl.
In another large bowl, mix the sugars together at low speed.
Add pieces of butter and beat until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each one, then mix in vanilla.
Add the flour mixture ½ cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in oats and chocolate chips.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let cool a couple minutes before removing them from baking sheet.
Enjoy! (and share!)

I'll share the bread when it's done in the oven.

Cool Stuff

Yesterday I found myself in front of a computer while nursing a bloody noise. I was having a rotten day and I decided that I would make an effort to cheer myself up by looking at some of my favorite blogs. I headed over the Cup Of Joe (love her!) and was delighted to find a sweet post about Hobbit houses. I explored further and was excited to find this quaint house and its story.
They built the house with the environment in mind and I think it turned out to be very visually stunning! This is the kind of place I would love to live when I grow up.
Small and green!

Anyway, hope you have a fantabulous day!
(and an EVEN BETTER weekend!)

Catch Up

I finished two cards and a page this weekend.
I finally got around to putting it all up . . . enjoy!

This is my "Resolution" page, and the first page in my 2010 book.
I decided to make a new book for every year.
(making it easier to remember when things happened)
A birthday card
(I always need more of these)
A fun one for just about anything.

Exciting news today:
John Green, one of my favorite authors, had a son today (Henry)!

Too Busy

I haven't blogged and I'm sorry, but I've had good reason!

I was too busy making cards.
I finally found time and spent a few hours down creating cool things.
Here they are . . .

Weekend

It was a nice quite weekend.
It was a bit nippy last night when we went out to the neighbors for a birthday.
I am however disappointed that I missed the snow on Thursday,
I was too ill to enjoy the silent glitter.
Hope your weekend was filled with beautiful things!

Got sleep on the brain!

Nighty night, don't let the bed bugs bite!
