It seems like I'm on repeat here.
Most of my vacations seem to be in Door County, but I'm okay with that.
This semester has been so crazy!
Last weekend was just what I needed.
This was the first time for both of us.
We loved it!
(Especially the bag fries.)
From there we drove up the peninsula and
checked in.
Then we immediately took advantage of the good weather and went on a hike in
Peninsula.
The snowmobile trails had just closed so we hiked on the nicely packed snow.
Walking to the lighthouse and back let us breathe deep and got the blood moving.
We came back to simply sit and read for a while.
It was amazing!
Then there was supper of heart pasta (via Allie!) and red sauce.
I ate it too fast to grab a picture, it was too good.
The next morning Fred fried some eggs and I cut up a melon.
Did I mention that Fred is the best at egg frying?
True-fact.
We took another hike.
This time in the morning to avoid the rain that was supposed to come at one.
I was determined to have a beach in my spring break, and so I did.
There was even open water!
Then we took a hike further inland on the black trail.
Side note:
I am mesmerized by lichen.
It's so delicate, and lovely, and it grows everywhere!
There's also a soft place in my heart for pussy willow.
The softest first sign of spring.
We drove back for a lunch of homemade caprese bruschetta (minus the balsamic vinegar).
It was so good.
I couldn't get enough.
We took the afternoon off and read some more before I caved and took a nap.
After the down time we made
scones for the next morning,
and headed out for a wonderful dinner with a great couple!
After a late night and a slow ride home in the fog we crashed.
The dead-sleep made the morning that much better though.
The scones were decadent!
After a lovely weekend stay in Door County, we had Easter lunch in Green Bay and headed back to reality.
This marks the latest in relaxing vacation weekends.
I hope your weekend was just as restful.
