Another Adventure to Door County

It seems like I'm on repeat here.
Most of my vacations seem to be in Door County, but I'm okay with that.
This semester has been so crazy!
Last weekend was just what I needed.

To start our adventure Fred and I stopped at Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Green Bay.
This was the first time for both of us.
We loved it!
(Especially the bag fries.)

From there we drove up the peninsula and checked in.
Then we immediately took advantage of the good weather and went on a hike in Peninsula.

The snowmobile trails had just closed so we hiked on the nicely packed snow.
Walking to the lighthouse and back let us breathe deep and got the blood moving.

We came back to simply sit and read for a while.
It was amazing!
Then there was supper of heart pasta (via Allie!) and red sauce.
I ate it too fast to grab a picture, it was too good.

The next morning Fred fried some eggs and I cut up a melon.
Did I mention that Fred is the best at egg frying?
True-fact.

We took another hike.
This time in the morning to avoid the rain that was supposed to come at one.
We started on the beach at White Fish Dunes.

I was determined to have a beach in my spring break, and so I did.
There was even open water!

Then we took a hike further inland on the black trail.

Side note:
I am mesmerized by lichen.
It's so delicate, and lovely, and it grows everywhere!

There's also a soft place in my heart for pussy willow.
The softest first sign of spring.

We drove back for a lunch of homemade caprese bruschetta (minus the balsamic vinegar).

It was so good.
I couldn't get enough.

We took the afternoon off and read some more before I caved and took a nap.
After the down time we made scones for the next morning,
and headed out for a wonderful dinner with a great couple!

After a late night and a slow ride home in the fog we crashed.
The dead-sleep made the morning that much better though.
The scones were decadent!

After a lovely weekend stay in Door County, we had Easter lunch in Green Bay and headed back to reality.
This marks the latest in relaxing vacation weekends.
I hope your weekend was just as restful.

Monday Morning Card #26

I realized last week that I needed more thank you cards.
So here is the beginning of the thank you series.

A simple colorful card of thanks,
because sometimes a pop color can really brighten a person's day.

On a different note:
1) Welcome spring? I saw a robin, but I don't know if that means much. Other signs from nature have betrayed Wisconsinites this season.
2) I will be back later this week to tell you about my spring break adventures!

Monday Morning Card #25

It's purple!
And not a fat joke!

So hello you.
Hello elephant.
Hello spring break!

Monday Morning Card #24

In this time of wishful thinking, and hopeful spring,
here is a hoppy frog!

So simple it might just make you smile!

Monday Morning Card #23

I've found so much to be thankful for in my life.
Which means I'm always in need of thank you cards.

While we're both here though,
Thank You!
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for being your beautiful self.
You bring light into this world,
and people don't tell you enough how truly awesome you are.
So thank you.

Good Medicine.

I've been so busy,
but I can't complain.
Instead, I wanted to share with you some of the things that are making me happy.
Keeping me sane.

Let me just say at the outset that this is link/text/random filled.
If you don't have time now-I totally understand!
Come back when you need a pick me up or a smile.

Like this.
So beautiful, simple, and bright.
It makes me miss my sister.

I'm doing practicum
(observing/teaching/learning in the classroom)
at the middle school level,
and I'm in love with it!
The kids are awesome!
My cooperating teacher is so much fun!
I love going and I will be so sad when it's over!

In addition to that I'm working with four different high school in an online class.
Also SO AMAZING!
I'm giving the kids prompts and feedback,
and I'm getting to know all of these awesome kids from all over the state!

This is when I know I want to be a teacher,
because I can't stay away.

I made gorp.
Mix together the ingredients above
(and whatever else you want really)
in a big bowl
(or the inside part of the crock pot if that's all you have).

I've also been making tea.
I have a bit of a sore throat so yesterday I made three cups of tea.
(Also a book I'm reading-just remember he may have lied.)
I made this, this, and this.
All made my night and throat peaceful.

This has been keeping my emotions in check.
If you don't like the first video you see check out the next one.
Their videos leave me inspired, crying, and/or with a beaming smile.

Finally a surprise.
I found this in a book I was reading with the middle schoolers I'm working with.
I was struck.
I knew, but I forgot.
Then I smiled so big I couldn't stop,
but I also felt a stab of sadness.
I miss my "other" family, and my best friends.

Monday Morning Card #22

I wish I had more time to create birthday cards.
Then I could send one to each and everyone of my friends, family, and casual acquaintances.

As it is I get a card out to you-if I have one,
and I have your address,
and your birthday is on a calendar other than Facebook.
Let's be real about how I don't post on everyone's wall.
And I'm sorry.
I just thought a card would be better.
I just didn't get one sent.
I apologize.
Maybe next year.
