Monday Morning Card #13

Now starts the regular cards!
Here's a birthday.

One of my favorite card making strategies is fumbling through my scrap paper boxes and working colors together.
I never know what I'm going to get in the end,
but most of the time I like it.

Scrapbooking

Before I left for break I made a few pages.
I haven't been keeping up on the memories so these pictures are all from 2011.
It feels good to have some of this done,
but there is still so much more to do!
So stay tuned-there will be more in the coming year.

This was Jazz Feast in Stevens Point, when I first started at UWSP.

A cookie baking get together with the girls.

Signing my DAR application papers.

Dinner with some amazing people right before Katie moved.

Monday Morning Card #12

It being Christmas Eve and everything I have two cards for you today.
Both with red backgrounds because we all need a little more red in our lives!

Both are simple, again.
I love the brown though,
it's actually cardboard so it has more weight to it and adds dimensions!

This last on is pretty special.
I found this weird hollow green button
with a dent on it in my great grandfather Peter's box of buttons.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Monday Morning Card #11

I'm into the simple.
I can't explain it,
but I love it.

My favorite part is the white scallops.
Sometimes they intimidate me.
This time they remind me of snow.

I Made Something!

I would tell you what it is,
but I really don't know.
The French pattern I got from Ravelry called it a collar.
Etsy calls it a cowl.
I call it warm.
An accurate description by my estimation.

This was my second time knitting in the round.
(Remember the socks?)
I think this project was much easier than they were.
Making me realize once again that jumping from scarves to socks is not a great idea,
even if they alliterate.

It was my first time working with circular needles.
One word: AWESOME!
I also tried the stockinette stitch.
I learned later that I did it wrong.
Apparently the stitch doesn't work the same in the round as it does when you're knitting regularly.
On the bright side I learned a different stitch called the garter stitch.
In addition to all that I finally learned the right way to purl.
(Which would have been handy with the socks seeing as how purling was a rather large part of the pattern)
YouTube never fails to amaze and teach!

A big thanks to my sister for taking the photos so they wouldn't be awkward mirror pics!

Monday Morning Card #10

I've been wanting to try this card for so long.
I love the simplicity of the ornaments!

I'm really satisfied with how it turned out.
I might have to try this kind of card again next year.

Sometimes I Need a Weekend.

To enjoy the view.

To meet new people.

To walk new trails.

To breathe deep.

To learn without taking notes.

To make brie squares.

To relax by the fire.

To drink wine.

To explore.

To remember how lucky I am.

Monday Morning Card #9

This is a "Blue Christmas" idea was stolen from someone else.
I'd show you, but I honestly have no idea where I saw it.
I just know there was a blue christmas tree and Elvis lyrics.

I've also done something like this before.
I just like this on SO much better!
I hope you enjoy it as well!
