Monster Cookies

I made Monster Cookies
(this is said in a Cookie Monster voice)
this week.
I have taken to cooking on Tuesdays.
It gives me a set time.
I break from homework,
put together some goodies to share with people,
(and make some new friends)
and it gives me an excuse to listen to 90FM's Sports Beat.
For those of you who do not completely comprehend the extent of the Monster Cookie's
(Cookie Monster)
awesomeness,
let me tell you a few things about these crazy good cookies!
They are a meal.
Literally, this is what I had for dinner.
They are all of the good cookies compounded into one.
They are made of:
Peanut Butter
Oatmeal
Chocolate Chips
M&Ms
What more could you want?!?

Anyway in three days I will be meeting John Green.
Just wanted everyone to know.
I can barely contain myself!

Enjoy your week!
=)

High River Adventures

If you haven't heard,
it rained a lot in the great state of Wisconsin.
Over the the city of Eau Claire the Chippewa River flooded.
This was a park,
now it's a pond,
complete with ducks!
We noticed this all on the way to the farmer's market on Saturday.
We got potatoes, carrots, a chicken, and a watermelon for supper.
On the way back to the dorm
we discussed if it was possible to look "sketch" with a watermelon.
I'll leave it up to you,
can someone look sketch with a watermelon?:
To eat the time between the farmer's market and supper we went to the mall.
I found a pretty cool hat.
After a quick stop at the grocery store
for some finishing touches on supper
we went back to the dorm and got to work.
We made Caesar salad with fresh tomatoes.
And chicken with vegetables.
It looks great,
but I swear here and now I will never make a chicken in the dorm again.
To all those who've ever considered taking on such a task,
DON'T!
All in all a good day.
Thanks Putnam for making in great!

Late Breakfast

I decided to go all out on breakfast today.
I went to the Thursday morning farmers market to prepare.
I got raspberries (no pictures, they were that good),
cherry tomatoes mmmmmm,
and one onion.

On the menu for this morning's breakfast was eggs,
left over from the brownies.
I put onions in the eggs,
as an afterthought-
I should have gotten a green pepper
to bring some color to the eggs,
but whatever.
I also whipped up some chocolate chip muffins.
This is what's left.
It was SO good!
Thanks to the girls who helped with breakfast,
and pictures!
Love you!

Bread Party

I finished my bread.
And we had a bread party to celebrate!
I don't have much bread left,
I might have to make another loaf!
It was SOOOOOOO good though!

First Loaf

I'm making my first loaf!
It's just plain white bread from King Arthur Flour.
I took a break from the day,
put together some bread,
and listened to UWSP's Sports Beat.
(not cause I know sports, but because I know Adam.)
I'll post a picture when it's all done.

Breakfast

I took some time after my eight o'clock to sit back,
sip some Earl Grey tea,
(the first of the goodies from mom, via Boulder)
and munch on some homemade zucchini bread.
I love breakfast time!

If all goes well I should be back later today with my first loaf of bread!

Weekend With Jax

I spent this past weekend with my cousin, Jax.
I watched him play soccer.
We made Rice Crispy Treats, and played Monopoly.
(He's really good at Monopoly!)
Then we got to go bowling!
We played two games, and I taught him some nifty moves.
Like backwards between your legs.
He got his Halloween costume and he tried it on for me.
When I got back to campus I immediately went to a Rally With Russ.
I not only heard Russ Feingold speak for the first time,
BUT
I got to shake his hand too!

Brownies

I finally got around to baking!
And i had some help:
The plan was to make cookies.
But I didn't have,
nor could obtain without pain of walking long distances
brown sugar.
=(
It was all better because mom sent MIXES!
We made brownies,
they're due to come out in about 5 minutes and then my day will feel fuller,
for I have baked.

Going for a Walk

I've been yearning for some time to myself since about mid- August.
While I was talking with my mom last night
she suggested that I take walks.
I decided to try it out.
I've done it before and found it so relaxing.
It gives me time to breathe,
think,
de-stress,
& collect my thoughts.
I went for a thirty minute walk this afternoon.
I listened to NPR's The Splendid Table.
It was fabulous!
Thanks for the great suggestion mom!
I think I'll make it part of my daily routine.

Weekend Update

I spent some quality time with family this weekend,
it was wonderful!
I didn't take any pictures.
(Something to work on next weekend!)
However, I received a care package from home,
and hopefully,
will be baking within the week!
Then next weekend I'm looking forward to:
Rice krispy treats,
Yellow tag,
Ninja,
and all around awesome fun times with my favorite 7-year-old!

[Stolen from Cathy on Facebook]
Ten years ago, to the day, I was dressed up in a forest green dress,
and at the tender age of nine walked down the isle with my sister by my side.
We were flower girls in my aunt's wedding!
It seems so strange to sit here and write this from my dorm.
I remember staying over at my aunt's apartment while she was in college.
This weekend I'm going to go spend some quality time with her,
and her seven year-old son.
I love you Cathy, and I hope the next ten years are as happy as the last ten have been!

And I'm In!

I moved into UW Eau Claire on Sunday.
Classes start tomorrow
(super excited!)
And this is my room!
Lofted my bed with my desk and chair underneath.
My fridge, books, and bread machine
My closet (without doors) I put my dresser in the closet to conserve space.
My family on move in.
Bulletin board!
With a shout out to Katie-thanks for the amazing button,
Adam-for the well needed Star Wars reference,
and Jeremy Larson-great singer!
